Balancing airflow with duct dampers, adjusting returns, or zoning the system evens things out — and whole-home humidity control tackles the dryness. A tune-up visit is the right time to have both looked at.
Start with the basics: a fresh filter, a professional pre-season tune-up, and modest thermostat setbacks while you sleep or are away. Sealing obvious air leaks helps too. If the furnace is past 10–15 years old, a high-efficiency replacement often pays for itself in lower bills — ask for a free estimate.
Light frost is normal in winter — the unit runs a defrost cycle to clear it. A solid coat of ice that never melts is not.
